This testing is required prior to dispensing any heartworm preventatives for dogs. The test is run to screen your pet for six vector-borne diseases. This tests for Heartworm disease and the tick-borne illnesses: Lyme, Ehrlichia canis, Ehrlichia ewingi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Anaplasma platys.
This testing is required prior to dispensing any heartworm preventatives for cats. This tests for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and heartworm.
This test is recommended for all exotic and purebred breed cats (i.e. Maine Coon, Sphynx, Siamese, etc) prior to surgery. These cat breeds, and some mixes of these breeds, are predisposed to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM can be a silent heart disease, even in very young cats, that increases anesthetic risk and potential complications.
